Things to do in Panama City
In downtown Panama City, our hotel is connected to the four-story Multicentro Shopping Mall and the expansive Majestic Casino. When you’re finished shopping and gaming, check out these other major attractions:
Panama Canal and museum – Both within 15 minutes of the hotel, the Panama Canal and the Panama Canal Museum are must-see attractions for your visit. Learn about this 80-kilometer canal that connects the Pacific to the Atlantic and you’ll soon understand why it’s called the “Eighth Wonder of the World.”
Casco Viejo – The walled Casco Viejo neighborhood draws more tourists than any other Panama attraction after the Panama Canal. While this wealthy historic district boasts stunning architecture and a rich legacy, it also offers upbeat festivals, delicious dining options and vibrant nightlife only five kilometers from the hotel.
Church of San Jose – Located in Casco Viejo, this church is known for its legendary golden altar. As the story goes, pirate Henry Morgan and his band attacked the city to steal the costly shrine, but Priest Juan had dismantled the altar and hidden most of it in the in the bay. The remaining pieces were disguised with a mud and black oil mixture, and as a result, the altar stands in this church today.
